WINE BLIND TASTING
Argentina has a long and rich winemaking tradition, and in recent years its wines, that until then had been only a national pride, have started to be regarded with respect and admiration all around the world, not only by oenologists and critics but also by the general public, who has discovered a true treasure on the shelves of supermarkets and liquor stores of the world’s greatest metropolis.

We offer you a blind date with the best in Argentine wine, at a posh house in Palermo SoHo. Upon arrival, the owners, both professional sommeliers, will welcome us warmly. Then we’ll move to the main tasting room, where we’ll embark on a true sensuous adventure that will allow us to enhance our olfactory skills and discover the subtle mysteries of this magical beverage. Our tasting starts with an excellent Torrontés from the Calchaquí Valleys, together with other white wines from the Old World. Our wines will perfectly marry to the starters in our exquisite three-step menu.
Next, we’ll be served three selected wines in a given order, without revealing us yet what we are drinking. Santiago, the house’s chief sommelier and owner, we’ll teach us a master class that will get us acquainted with the basics we need to assess the quality of any given wine, as well as all the information about Argentina’s winemaking industry, its geographical regions and its top wineries. These red wines will be married to our main course.
With dessert, we’ll taste a very special red wine, with a strong presence of Malbec.
Approximate duration: 3.30 hours.

• Bilingual tour guide.
• Transportation and transfers in a comfortable, top of the line vehicle. Uniformed driver.

HISTORICAL WALK AROUND PUERTO MADERO: A VIEW OF THE RIVER

Puerto Madero is the result of an ambitious urban project, that started in 1991 and renovated the more than 170 hectares of an abandoned port area, transforming it into the city’s new international district while finally accomplishing and old dream: integrating the river to the city. First, the old silos and cereal deposits on the docks were remodelled; nowadays, the neighborhood has grown beyond the docks, to the Southern Riverside Path and the Ecological Reservation, and concentrates the most ambitious commercial, entertainment and real-estate ventures.
We start our visit at the docks area, walking along the river to see the old silos, and admiring the great renovation work performed there. To really appreciate the contrast, we visit the old Customs Building, the oldest institution in the country, built in 1778 before our independence. The actual building has a Beaux Arts architecture from halfway through the 19th century. Next, we see the Libertador Building, one of the city’s (and Latin America’s) first skyscrapers, which now houses the Ministry of Defense.
We then return to the docks area, visiting the Sarmiento Frigate. This ship houses a museum, where we’ll see how a 19th century frigate actually operated. Next, we see the modern La Nación building, home of one of Argentina’s top newspapers, founded by Bartolomé Mitre in 1870. It’s a 30-floor steel and glass skyscraper. By night, people can actually see what’s going on inside. To perceive the sharp contrast between the old and the new in Buenos Aires, we admire the Central Post Office palace, built between 1899 and 1928. It was designed by prestigious French architect Norbert Maillart, and is one of Buenos Aires’ most luxurious buildings.
