ARGENTINA, A COUNTRY OF CONTRASTS
Argentina offers a variety of climates and landscapes to the visitor: from the impressive Andes mountain range to the plains of the Pampas; from the colorful Northwest plateaus to the forests and glaciers in the Patagonia; from the tropical Iguazú Falls to the colonies of sea animals on the Atlantic coast; from the Quebrada de Humahuaca, declared World Cultural Landscape by the UNESCO, running along over 4,100 km to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.
The 23rd ISFG World Congress will be hosted in Buenos Aires, capital of Argentina, one of the largest cities in the world, with over eleven million inhabitants in both the city and its surroundings. A megalopolis with its own personality, it is at the same time cosmopolitan and contradictory, dynamic and traditional, historical and avant-garde.
In spite of its modern constructions, Buenos Aires has managed to preserve old traditions and charming corners and offers numerous attractions: different entertainment and gastronomic areas, with many restaurants and clubs open until early hours in the morning, tango dance shows, picturesque fairs, shopping malls and commercial centers, parks and gardens with ancient trees, monuments, churches, museums and theaters, among others. Most visitors are fascinated by its environment, the individuality of each of its neighbourhoods, the cordiality of its people, and its wide selection of cultural and commercial opportunities.
