GUIDELINES FOR ORAL AND POSTER PRESENTATIONS

The Abstracts to be presented are related to all aspects of forensic genetics.
Abstracts contain original material, not published or presented at any other international meeting prior to the 23rd ISFG World Congress 2009.

  • Only abstracts in English were accepted.
  • Abstracts do not exceed 250 words.
  • All accepted abstracts include:
  • Introduction and aims
    Materials and methods
    Results and discussion

  • All accepted abstracts were reviewed by the members of the scientific committee.
  • A limited number of abstracts were selected for oral presentation.
  • If an abstract was accepted, at least one of the authors must attend the meeting and present it in person. The presenting author of an accepted abstract must register and pay the registration.
  • Presenting authors are responsible for all costs related to travel and
    attendance to the meeting unless otherwise agreed with the congress organizers.
  • ORAL PRESENTATIONS

    Multimedia slides should be prepared in POWER POINT format by the lecturer.

    RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Be sure to bring your presentation on a CD ROM or memory stick/pen drive, the use of floppy disks is discouraged
  • Only presentations in Power Point are allowed.
  • Microsoft PowerPoint, in Office 2000, XP, 2003 and 2007 formats.
    Standard fonts (typography) should be used.
    If the material was loaded on a “Macintosh” computer, it should be transferred to a PC. This step may be omitted if the speaker brings his/her own “Macintosh” computer with it original adapter MAC / PC plug, which will be connected directly to the Video Projector.
  • In case the CD contains any videos, these should be loaded in the followings formats: Windows Media ( .avi, .wmv ) .MPEG (.mpg, .mpeg, .mpe, .mpa, .m1v, .mp2, .mpv2, .mp2v). The video formats DIVX, DVD, Real Player, VCD y Quick time are not compatible with Microsoft Power Point and you can only run them outside the PPT presentation. If the video is mpeg, we recommend loading the audio in mpeg layer II.
  • It is essential that the speaker has his/her material previously tested in speaker pre-view room.
    NOTE:
    Personal computers and laptops are not recommended; all presenters are encouraged to use the congress equipment provided. They use can produce unwanted delays during the presentation sessions.

    The time length for each presentation must follow the sechedule published in the Congress Programme.

    The material for presentation must be uploaded in the Speaker’s center at least 2 hours before the presentation. We encourage you to check your presentation in the Speaker’s Pre-view room well in advance.
    For the early morning sessions, please provide your CD ROM or memory stick at the Speaker’s Preview Room the day before.

    POSTER PRESENTATIONS

  • Posters must be presented personally by the author and should not be mailed in advance.
  • Posters must have a maximum width of 0,90 m and a maximum height of 1,40 m (portrait orientation). Materials needed for poster exhibition will be provided on-site. Illustrations must be sharp and clear, so that all posters can be readable form a distance of 1.5 meters. At the top of the poster, in bold lettering of about 2.5 or 3 cm size, please provide the title of the paper, the name/s of the author/s and affiliation.
  • The attendance of at least one of the authors is required during the poster session (please, check the program for the correct sechedule).
  • Posters must be in place on Wednesday, September 16 before 9.30 AM and must be romoved on Friday, September 18 immediately after 6.00 PM .
  • DISCLOSURE POLICY

    Participants sholud be made aware of any affiliation or financial interest that may affect a speaker’s presentation. Each speaker is asked to verbally disclose at the start of his/her presentation any financial interest or affiliation and to indicate if a product he/she is discussing is not labeled for the use that is being discussed or if it is still investigational.
    This policy is established neitehr to imply any position regarding the propriety of such relationships nor to prejudice any individual form making a presentation, but to allow the participants to form their own judgements regarding the presentation.

    Authors must disclose any material, financial or other relationships that may pose a conflict of interest at the time of the presentation.

    RECORDING, CELL PHONES AND NO-SMOKING POLICIES

    No audio or videotaping is permitted in the meeting sessions or exhibit hall. Please, refrain from doing so in these locations.
    For the courtesy of all faculty and participants, please ensure that cell phone ringers are silenced during all sessions.
    Smoking is not permitted in the Convention Center, Public Areas and Event venues.
